The Frog Days of Summer
While discussing Alcohol venders an idea hit me and I'd like to see what you all think about it.
I'm sure all of you enjoyed the GG Farwell event and since Anet already has the code written up why not push it to August and call it The Frog Days of Summer?
Instead of letting all that work go to waist and since April already has Easter and April Fools in it and August is one of the months of the year that has no Special Event going on. I don't think they are planning to re run this event, so why not push it to August and rename it.
So what do you guys/gals think?
For those of you who missed the event and don't know what it is:

I like the concept of having an event where sweet and party points are doubled for usage. The same goes for Drunkard, but it's not so effective thanks to the way the title works.

Main Events:
February=Canthan New Year (sometimes will be in January)
April=Birthday Celebration
July=Dragon Festival
October=Halloween
December=Wintersday (extends to early January)
Small Events:
March=Saint Patrick's Day
April=April Fools' Day/Easter
Months Without an Event:
May
June
August
September
November
So we need at 5 more events, even if they are small to the point of only being annual drops, such as on Saint Patrick's day, or Easter.
In-game based holiday events would be lovely imo. Such as a Royal's birthday (Adelbern, Kisu, Sarah, etc.) or a "Welcome Back Joko" annual celebration.
I think everyone would love the Welcome Back Joko part xD. Hosted in the Bone Palace. (maybe with that event some background can be added on Joko for the lore fans like myself)
Anyways, I love the idea, work on the name.

Good list Azazel, though you forget September now has "International Talk like a Pirate day" (grog) as a small event.
November also has American Thanksgiving (another small event).
So... August June and May (I think) still need something.

I didn't count the pirate event as that has only happened once in GW. Although it should be annual, until next year, we do not know it to be annual on GW.
And for Thanksgiving, I cannot recall if anything drops for that, so I didn't mention it (seeing how it's not international as well as it being a COMPLETE mockery of the Native Americans.... "Hey, we killed a bunch of Natives, let's go celebrate and say we helped them! Woohoo!" I'd rather there not be a GW holiday for that...).
For may, it feels like there is something there, but I don't recall anything.
....
BTW, when was the Gamer Weekend? I remember it happening at least for 2 years... Maybe that's the May event I can't recall?
None-the-less, August is lacking...

That's a good list but you left a few out as some have pointed out the list looks like this
Major Events:
January = the end of Wintersday
February = Canthan New Year (sometimes will be in January)
April = Birthday Celebration
june/July = Dragon Festival
October = Halloween
December = Start of Wintersday
Small Events:
March=Saint Patrick's Day
April=April Fools' Day/Easter
July = Wintersday in July
September = International Talk Like a Pirate day/weekend
November = Special treats Weekend
Months Without an Event:
May
June
August
They should:
Have a gamer weekend in May and open up the boardwalk.
Extend Dragon festival to the last weekend in June to the first weekend in July
August of course the GG Farewell Event renamed The Frog Days of Summer. Which is a reference to the Dog days of summer and would work with the frog addins they had during the GG event.
These should be small weekend events as well.
Before we all get side tracked and ask for the moon I'm just suggesting instead of letting all the work they did go to waste for the GG event move it to August. The GG event had firework drops which would aid in gaining the Party animal title and the collectors were collecting up a wide variety of things that would also help gain other titles. Like I said the frog theme they had during the event works with the Dog days of summer saying, and not much would have to be changed except for the time of year they ran it.

The "Frog Days of Summer" (still not really liking the name) can be June, as that is more summer, but I don't know this "Dog Days of Summer" saying so... whatev.
I still want a Joko-related event that would explain his past a bit
Perhaps, the 3 months can get this:
May: Gamer Week (instead of Weekend)
June: Frog Days of Summer (unless the saying goes with August, then keep to August)
August: (Random Celebration, quests will change, along with "special rewards" but everything else can be the same).
Could use more variety then just the same things every year.

Dog days depend on where you are in the world.
I think this will help. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dog_Days
I kind of like the predictability of the events lets me plan and gives me something to look forward to. I like that Wintersday last so long, also I really think the Dragon festival should be 2 weeks, and Halloween, New Years, the Birthday celebration should each be 1 week long. Making the other events only weekend long keeps them from causing the events to get old.
But again I don’t want this to turn into a give an inch and we’ll ask for a mile kind of thing.
I understand it is a lot to ask for, but I’d really not like to see the GG Event be lost and this seems like a reasonable request. The code has already been written and Anet can call it what ever they want, I just thought that Frog Days played well off of Dog Days and since the GG event had quit a few references to the frog it seemed to mess and not need any change at all.

Thank you (and Scf Blacknight) for the link. I do think the Holiday events should be no less then a week long (preferably 2 weeks long) as people celebrate the coming of the holiday, then the holiday itself. Also, New Years and Wintersday is one and the same ^^ (which is why Wintersday is about 3 weeks long, and the longest of all events).
An specific event once a month isn't asking for a mile really, imo, as it'll serve mostly for bringing people back more often. There doesn't have to be a hat for these new events either, just something to make the event, and event.

before finding this thread, i was actually thinking of posting one suggesting more holiday events for any of those months without one. I like the 'frog days of summer' idea.
*spoiler alert*
I also wanted to suggest an Elona based event. Cantha has New Year's and the Dragon Festival. Halloween & Wintersday are celebrated in Elona, but they originated in Tyria. What about something like an annual tribute to Kormir, the Goddess of Truth?

I would be ok with only the drops and traders during this event, an appearance by the frog is not necessary.
However I would like to have the frog effects on the fireworks during the event weekend.
